What a way to return! I am back on my hiphop journaling and Vast Aire has brought me back in style by dropping a track that hits so many touchstones for this hiphop Nerd it is amazing.
I am going to also do a vlog about the whole elp(Live from the Aireport) that this jawn is from but first I need to spaz out over how dope this mesh up of songs is. So Bill Cosmiq, the producer who provided sounds on several projects for vast as a soloist and cannibal ox post El p(of run the jewels, def jux and company flow fame) created a real boom bap banger on here. He proceeded to mash the theme song from the 80s cartoon he man and the masters of the universe with a silver hawk sample mixed in. This simple Juxtapositions of themes over a punchy boombap drum is dope on its on merit. Then take the fact that Kenyattah Black and Vast Aire trade god body level five percent bars coupled braggadocio swagger and you got a full on banger on your hands.
This song keeps with Vast Aire and Cannibal ox using pop culture references from comic books, scifi and cartoons to deliver deeper messages on everything from social issues, philosophy to metaphysics. This is what makes Vast and company some of my favorite artists and I will have this jawn on repeat forever……ENJOY
